Jan Watson has been teaching Hatha yoga since 1992 and exclusively in the Iyengar style since 1997. Iyengar yoga is known for its scientific methods, accurate practice and dedication
Classes are taught in The Progress Association hall, with its beautiful timber dance floor, a timber structure with windows opening out to the sea breezes. The hall is nestled amongst tall trees and is on the foreshore at North Mission Beach.
There are 3 defining aspects of Iyengar Yoga Method; Technique, Sequencing and Timing.
Techniques teach correct placement and correct body alignment
Sequencing is the order of practice; this can be for the season, age, for a desired effect or for injury.
Timing is the length of time required to maximize the benefits of each asana. This is different for different asanas, some are held for 30-60 seconds, some for 5-10 minutes.
